DIY Almond Butter

by Ashley on May 18, 2011

A favorite of mine and Dustin’s is almond butter, but at most grocery stores it runs us around $8.00 a jar, and at the rate that Dustin eats nut butter that’s about ummmm $8 a day.  Just kidding, but seriously, it adds up!

I decided I was going to start making my own almond butter but just knew that there would be multiple steps involved.  That’s until I looked it up and found a recipe here.  SO simple!

Requirements:

2 cups of almonds

1 food processor

Throw the almonds in the food processor and let it go for literally 15 or 20 minutes.

I also added 2 tbsp of flax seed and 1 tbsp of chia seeds for a little extra crunch and nutritional value.

At first it will look like this…

And the ending result…

Homemade Almond Butter!  Try it!
