Today, still working toward one of my summer goals to read God’s word daily (I’ve definitely missed a few days here and there, but I always try to jump back on track), over on my Food Facts page, the verse that was in my reading today was rather meaningful for me.
Joshua 24: 13-15
So I gave you a land on which you did not toil and cities you did not build; and you live in them and eat from vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant. Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshiped beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land your are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
This was my grandmothers favorite bible verse; and she really did live out those words.

Such a cool lady; fully alive because she chose to serve the Lord daily.

We choose to serve (or not serve) the Lord daily, and I bet you haven’t thought about it like this, but we do so in our eating habits as well. Eating the foods that God created for us, the fruits, vegetables, grains, etc., allows us to serve Him as He desires, getting the most out of our bodies physically and mentally as well. However, eating chemical laden food that will only destroy our health is a choice in the opposite direction (I have a post coming on sugar soon!) Our God wouldn’t create things to damage our health…think about it? Who are you serving when you make decisions about your food?
