TOTW Tuesday: Traveling? Plan Ahead.

Good morning! Any other yogis out there working on the July Yoga Challenge? I sure hope so because this team is!

Forearm Headstand

Last night I received lots of great yogi headstand pics… the challenge is off to a great start! Keep the photos coming and join in if you haven’t already! Life is pretty fun upside down!

That’s another great thing about yoga – you can practice anywhere! Same with healthy eating – it can be accomplished regardless of your physical location.


Have no fear, the green smoothies have been mean and green over here. No doubt the Vitamix made the trip along with a very veggie-full Yeti. I’m so blessed that the hub sets me up with every tool I could possibly need to live my ‘healthy life’ on the go (more on that in another post) but really you don’t need anything fancy to eat healthy on the road.


(And just to note, I’m sorry for the awful photo quality of these pictures, my Canon is out of commission for a little bit but hopefully it will be back soon!)

So that leads me to this weeks Tip of The Week Tuesday: when traveling, plan ahead.

No, I’m not saying you have to pack your blender and intense cooler like I do, but with just a little bit of prep work, healthy eating can be accomplished from any hotel room or car ride. With summer vacations in full swing, don’t let poor preparation derail your goals. And most likely the last thing you will want to do when you arrive to your destination is go to the grocery store to find healthy treats – use this list, customize it and pack your own treats right in the car for your next road trip or vacation.


Here is a list of the things I tend to pack on most of our trips.

Dry Goods

  • Whole Grain/Gluten-free Crackers
  • Rice Chips
  • Brown Rice Cakes
  • Rolled Oats
  • Granola/Energy/Protein Bars (Larabars, Core Warrior Bars, Kind Bars)
  • Sprouted Cinnamon Raisin Bread
  • Fresh Fruit (oranges, apples, bananas)
  • Dried Fruit (apricots, blueberries, raisins)
  • Nuts (walnuts, raw cashews, almonds)
  • Seeds (flax, chia, hemp)
  • Protein Powder
  • Tea Bags
  • Red wine

In the Cooler 

  • Hummus
  • Baby Carrots (or other fresh veggie sticks)
  • Individual Greek Yogurt Cups
  • Almond Butter/ Peanut Butter
  • Lemons/Limes
  • Bag Spinach (for green smoothies!)
  • Water
  • LaCroix

And that’s that. It may seem like a lot but I promise you when you a looking for a snack and the gas station is the only option, you’ll be glad you brought your own stash – so will your fellow travelers!

Eating healthy at hotels is one of my more troubling issues, thank you for your advice
