Test Kitchen Monday

by Ashley on August 5, 2013

Hello Monday! You are flying by!

Hi friends! How’s your day going?! Time is moving at roller coaster speed over here. There are not enough hours in the day!

We are recipe testing like crazy over here, trying to get things perfect for my “Real Food Five Day Detox” that I mentioned I am working on and hope to publish it soon! The hub was pretty patient with me in the grocery store this morning as I gathered all of the delicious foods!

We actually didn’t like the the first recipe as is so we’ve been adding, subtracting, trying and retrying until we finally got a delicious product!

Gunner was even hoping to catch a falling crumb!

Anyway, I just wanted to check in and say hello but I’m off to continue testing for the rest of the afternoon.I hope  you have a great evening!

Oh yeah, I was featured on the Sports, Cardiovascular, and Nutrition Blog (SCAN), a dietetic practice group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), on Friday talking about why I started blogging, how it has helped my career, as well as some advice for someone just starting blogging if you want to head over there check it out!

Also, in case you missed it yesterday, my Week 2 Meal Plans are ready over in the $5 Meal Plans Tab at the top of the screen. This week includes a six day general healthy dinner menu plan, a six day vegetarian dinner menu plan, as well as a five day healthy lunches menu plan.  Thanks to those of you who have already purchased yours!

Good health!

Hey Ashley,
I am Debbie’s cousin (Peggy Ann’s 3rd). While at the beach with my family this summer, my sister mentioned your blog and I have checked it out and love it! I am training for my first 1/2 marathon and read a bit about your marathon training and nutrition. I hope to try some of your smoothies for a change up to my recipes. Also, my 10 year old has been a vegetarian (ethical) for the past 6 years and I can always use new ideas for him. BTW, any thoughts on childhood vegetarianism? Always worried about his protein intake. I am sharing your blog with my peeps, both fitness fanatic and otherwise. Thanks for a fun and informative read! Oh and I did your work out on Friday and added some yoga to it. Loved it!

Hi Lynda Ann! Great to hear from you! Thank you! I am so happy to hear that you are following along! That’s awesome that you are training for your first 1/2! Halves are my favorite! Far enough but not too far! It’s the perfect distance to feel challenged yet still alive! Haha! As far as childhood vegetarianism goes, this is a topic that I am very passionate about. Dustin and I (yearsssss down the road) plan on raising our children vegetarian until they are old enough to make the decision for themselves. Because of this, I find my self researching and reading on the topic a lot! I am working on a post covering this topic soon but in a nutshell, research supports that a vegetarian diet CAN support adequate growth development across all age spans, including children. There are just a few nutrients to watch out for which I will include in my post! Thanks again for stopping by and helping me get my healthy word out!! I look forward to staying in contact with you!
