Today is A New Day + Monday Motivation

by Ashley on June 24, 2013

Hi friends and happy Monday. It seems like every time I turn around it’s Monday. But it’s okay – Monday is a great day to set new goals, start fresh, and make the decision to have a great week.

Even though it’s Monday, today I choose joy.

Anyways, how was your weekend? All good over here.

Friday night we went over to some long time baseball friend’s house that we haven’t seen in quite a while. It was so good to see them and their two sweet babies too! There just something about seeing old friends – we laughed, reminisced, and talked about “the glory days.” If someone would have told me a few years ago that our days in minor league baseball were one day be referred to as “the glory days,” I would have called them crazy, but looking back, those were some of the most carefree days that we would ever have. It’s so awesome to have long time friends to share those memories with.

An old picture from our minor league days.

Saturday, I spent the majority of the day working on my computer, still trying to work some things out on the “career front”- hopefully, I be able to share with you more on that soon.

And then Saturday night, I went with Dustin’s parents to the Rome Braves minor league baseball game. Dustin played with the Rome Braves at one point in his career and I hadn’t been back there since.  It was cool to be back there and brought back a lot of old memories, especially since the still have a blown up picture of him in the park restaurant.

Sorry for the poor photo quality – taking a picture of a picture on an iPhone doesn’t work out too well.

Yesterday, we slept entirely too late and then hit the pavement for a brutal 3 mile run. I haven’t done any running in the past few weeks, so it felt as if my heart and lungs were about to come out of my chest but it was exactly what my body needed (maybe running in the noon heat wasn’t the best idea). Following our run and a delicious lunch, I spent the day soaking up some sun while the hub caught another baseball game. I planned on doing a little bit more work but I decided to enjoy the day outside instead – the pups were pretty happy with this decision too! It was certainly a relaxing yet great weekend.

As far as this week goes, I plan on focusing on healthy eating and cleaning up my diet. With summer in full swing I’ve been a little to lax these past few weeks, but it’s nothing to stress about because I know how just one week or even day of clean eating makes me feel. Lots of clean eating and exercise in store for me this week!

What about you? What did you do this weekend? Do you take Sunday as a day of rest or is it a day to get caught up on unfinished work before the crazy week starts? And what do you do when you get a little bit side tracked when it comes to diet/exercise? Dwell on yesterday or move forward today? I’m certainly choosing to move forward today!

Have a great day!

Good health!
