New Look

by Ashley on April 20, 2013

Hi friends! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Everything happening in Boston and the surrounding areas right now has my eyes and ears glued to the television, news radio stations and news websites whenever possible. I am so saddened by Monday’s events. As a runner myself, I cannot stop thinking about the joy, peace, sense of accomplishment, safety, and happiness that was stolen from the runners and families involved at the finish line on that day. My thoughts and prayers remain with all of those involved in this tragedy and am so thankful that yesterday ended the way it did.

On a much lighter note, if you have followed me for any amount of time, you may notice that things look different here now right?! I have been working on (well, with the help of my incredible blog team) moving and updating my site since February and it is now finished (almost… still working out a few kinks)! I am now self-hosting which I am very excited about but I know I have so much to learn! (Note: if the old site is still showing up for you, I was told that it takes a little bit of time for everything to transfer over.)

The new site will be less chatter and more nutrition. I will still talk about my life and such, since, hey, that’s pretty important to me and the inspiration behind this blog, but I hope to provide you more of the tools you need to find nutritional success! I plan to resume my TOTW (Tip of the Week) posts, provide more clean eating, easy to create recipes, etc. Upon passing the RD exam in a few weeks (all fingers crossed), I will write about even more evidenced-based nutrition topics and will offer new services and such. Movin’ and grooving’ over here and I love it!

I’ve updated my About Me and Contact pages and am still working on organizing the Recipes, Fitness, Nutrition and Healthy Tools tabs so that it is easy for you to find what you are looking for.

At the top of the site, you will see one of my very favorite Bible verses and new theme to the blog, Proverbs 4:23, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”  Without changing my site address and confusing things for all of us, I decided to keep it the same instead of switching over to something like guardyourheart.com (plus, it wasn’t available just like that – I would have had to change the ‘your’ to ‘ur’ and spelling/grammatical changes like that drive me crazy… but that’s beside the point!). This verse is perfect in all ways to me. It is true: our day to day lives are created from within. We can guard our hearts nutritionally by feeding our mind, bodies and souls healthy food to sustain the lives in which we want to live. By keeping our hearts (bodies) well-nourished, flourished and healthy, we can carry out the intentions of our lives: living, thriving, giving, laughing and feeling well! There is nothing greater than that.

Anyways, what do you think of the new look? Anything else you’d like to see? I’d love your feedback. Also, I guess this is a good time to mention that, just like this, I am going to add a question of the day at the end of every post. I really hope that you will respond, creating a conversation, even if it’s just saying hello! Have an awesome weekend! Let’s get and stay healthy together!

Good health!

Love your new format! Easy to follow. Easy to read! Spread the word- We only get out of our bodies, what we put into it! It’s so simple and makes so much sense.
