Summer Goals

Not going to lie, I’ve been very slack about making my monthly goals, so I’ve decided to do “Summer Goals” instead, so that I can slack no more.  Statistics show, people who write things down have a much greater chance of actually completing them, so here they are listed in no particular order…

1.  Read God’s word more:  This is something I will work on for the rest of my life.  It’s impossible to have a relationship with someone if I don’t even spend time with him.  The Bible is the “How To” book of life, therefore I believe it is crucial for me to follow.

2.  Give more: Of my time, of my effort, of my heart, of my money, of my belongings, of my voice, of my knowledge.  I want to give in any way that I possibly can.

3.  Spend more time outdoors:  Being outside, I feel closest to God.  I feel that I am in the place that He made for me.  I want to spend as much of my day outside, in His artwork, as possible.

4.  Build More Muscle:  Because I will be running my first marathon (if all goes as planned) in November, most of my summer and fall will be spent distance running.  I don’t want to lose all muscle tone because of the amount time that I will be spending running.  I started working out and lifting heavier weights with Dustin about two weeks ago, and I plan to so for the next four weeks, in order to build more muscle before I break it down by distance running.  I also plan to continue to lift weights a couple of days a week during my training in order to not lose what I already have.  I think getting through the marathon will require not only endurance but strength as well.

.

5.  Read more: I just want to read anything more: fiction books, nonfiction books, magazines, etc. because I believe that it is through reading that we can find meaning, knowledge, imagination, and so much more.

Thanks for this post, Ashley. I’ve been thinking about my goals since the beginning of the year! One thing among your list that I never really thought about was #2 (Give More), specifically of “the heart”. Now there’s a goal I’ve never really thought about…thank you for that!

Your blog is awesome! God Bless.

Thank you so much Linda! You are such an inspiration!! Giving our heart is something that can often times seem so hard to do but everyday I’m learning that it is so important to do!
